Team Chat

Talk with your team in Team Chat, keep private notes in My chat, and link the Task when a conversation turns into work.

4 min

Team Chat is how your team talks inside Tabflows. Team holds the clinic's shared channels, and My chat is a private space for your own notes and Sidekick questions.

A message is not an assignment, and a mention is not ownership. When a conversation turns into work that needs an owner and a due date, it belongs in a Task, and you can link that Task in the conversation so everyone sees its live status.

Topics

  1. Pick Team or My chat Open Chat, and select Team if you see the switch. Team holds the shared clinic channels; My chat, if your account has it, is private to you, for notes and Sidekick questions.
  2. Post, mention and reply in a thread Mention a teammate or group when you need their attention. A mention doesn't assign work.
    1. Open Team Chat, type your message, and mention anyone who needs to see it.
    2. To keep follow-up together, open Reply on a message and answer in the thread.
    3. When someone mentions you, tick the acknowledgement checkbox to show you've seen it.
  3. Ask @Sidekick in a channel Type @Sidekick in a message and Sidekick replies in the thread, where everyone in the conversation can read it.
    1. Type @Sidekick and your question, such as "what is our cancellation policy?"
    2. Send it, and review the reply before acting on it.
  4. Schedule a repeating request In My chat you can schedule a note or @Sidekick request to run once or repeat, even when your browser is closed. Scheduling isn't turned on for every account.
    1. In My chat, write the note or @Sidekick request, without files.
    2. Select the caret beside Send and choose a timing, such as Every weekday.
    3. Select Send (for Custom, select Schedule in the dialog first). You can pause, edit or delete it later under Scheduled.

Do it in Tabflows

Share the Task you created in Module 2 with your team.

  1. Open Chat, and select Team if you see the switch. No Chat? Update Tabflows, refresh, then ask Tabflows Support.
  2. Start a message and @mention the teammate who owns the Task.
  3. Select Link task, search for the Task, and choose it.
  4. Send the message. Anyone in the channel can open the card to see the Task's owner, due date and live status.
  5. Open My chat, if your account has it, and write yourself a note about what to check tomorrow. Only you can see it.
