Sidekick

Ask Sidekick about a patient, check its answer, and save a prompt you will reuse.

6 min5 min

Sidekick is the AI assistant inside Tabflows. You ask in plain language, and it summarizes, finds, drafts or creates the work. It answers from the context you give it, so the first habit is to connect the right patient before a chart question, and to leave the patient out for a clinic question.

Most prompts need one sentence: an action, the context and the output you want. Every answer is a draft for your review. Sidekick supports your work; it does not replace clinical judgment. To run a request later, schedule it from My chat if your account has it (Module 3).

Topics

  1. Open Sidekick for a patient or the clinic For a patient, open Sidekick from their chart so the right person is in context. For policies, pricing or Tasks, open it without a patient.
    1. In a connected system, click the Sidekick button beside the patient's name.
    2. Or open Sidekick from the Tabflows side tab and search for the patient.
    3. Check the patient name, and hover over the icons under Patient records to see when each was last updated.
  2. Ask one clear question Short prompts work best: one sentence is usually enough. Say what to do, about what, and in what form.
    1. Name the action: summarize, find, compare, draft or create.
    2. Name the context: this patient, our pricing, my open Tasks, or the attached file.
    3. Name the output: five bullets, patient-friendly language, or a short handoff.
    4. If the answer is too broad, follow up, for example "Focus only on the last six months."
  3. Check the answer before you use it Sidekick can only use what's connected, uploaded or in your conversation, and it doesn't replace your judgment. A person reviews every draft before it's sent or charted.
    1. Confirm the patient, and that the sources are recent enough.
    2. Ask "Which sources did you use?" or "What information is missing?"
    3. Check names, dates, medications, doses and numbers against the source before you copy, send or chart anything.
  4. Give Sidekick a file to read Attach up to five PDF, image, Word, Excel, CSV or text files, each up to 20 MB, and say exactly what Sidekick should look for.
    1. Select Attach file in the prompt box and choose your files.
    2. Wait for each upload to finish, add a clear instruction, and send.
  5. Save a prompt you'll reuse A saved prompt fills the message box with wording you use often, so you only add today's details. Saved prompts are yours, not a shared clinic library.
    1. Open Sidekick. For your first one, select New chat, then Create a saved prompt. Once you have saved prompts, click More saved prompts... under SAVED PROMPTS, then New prompt.
    2. Enter a clear Title, write the request in Prompt, and click Save prompt.
    3. Next time, click the prompt's name, edit it for today, and click the blue ↑ button.
  6. Know what Sidekick sees on your screen On desktop Chrome, Screen awareness lets Sidekick use the page you're on when you start a new chat. It reads the page; it doesn't click or change anything.
    1. Before starting a new chat, close or switch away from anything you don't want included, especially another patient's chart.
    2. To turn it off, open Profile → Account → Sidekick and switch off Screen awareness.

Do it in Tabflows

Ask Sidekick one patient question, then save a prompt you repeat.

  1. Open a patient you'll see this week and select Sidekick beside their name, or choose them in Sidekick's Select a patient.
  2. Check the patient's name, then ask: "Pre-chart this patient for tomorrow's visit."
  3. Compare the answer with the chart, then ask a follow-up such as "Focus only on the last six months."
  4. Select New chat, then Create a saved prompt. Once you have saved prompts, it's More saved prompts..., then New prompt.
  5. Give it a clear Title, write a request you make often in Prompt, and select Save prompt.
