> **Summary:** Most Task problems come from ownership, visibility timing, patient linking, filters, or permission boundaries. Use the checks below to find the cause without rebuilding the Task.

> **A note for non-human readers:**
>
> *When a Task seems missing or behaves strangely, software haunting is rarely the first explanation. Its view, filters, owner, status, or exact symptom usually points to the correct troubleshooting branch. The ordinary explanation is less cinematic and far more useful.*

---

## A Task is missing from My Tasks

Check:

1. Is **Assigned to** set to you or an appropriate group?
2. Has the **Due on** date arrived?
3. Should the **Due on** date be earlier? **Mark as urgent** alone does not bring a future Task into **My Tasks**.
4. Are active filters hiding it?

> **Good to know:** **Due on** controls when the Task surfaces in **My Tasks**. It is not automatically a completion deadline.

---

## The wrong patient is linked, or no patient is linked

The creation path matters:

- The supported patient-page Task button links that patient by default.
- Sidebar **Add task** may use the patient open in the main system.
- **+** in the general **Tasks** panel requires manual patient selection.

Open the Task, verify **Patient**, correct it if needed, and save.

---

## An assignment email did not arrive

Check:

- The Task's current **Assigned to** value.
- The recipient's personal **Email notifications for tasks** setting.
- Spam, junk, and inbox rules.
- Whether the Task is visible inside Tabflows.

Direct assignment, reassignment, and eligible group assignment can send email. Self-assignment does not. Group email also depends on eligible members and personal notification settings.

---

## A mention did not change ownership

That is expected for **@ mentions** in **Comments**. Update **Assigned to** when the overall Task owner should change.

An **@ mention** inside a checklist item (subtask) names that teammate on the item and adds the Task to their **Mentions**. It still does not change the Task-level owner.

---

## A saved filter is hard to find

Open **Favorite filters**. Saved views can be reused, pinned, searched, or deleted. If the results look wrong, open the saved view and inspect its active filters.

---

## A group name will not save

Go to **Assigned to → Group → Edit groups** (Admins only) to review existing groups. Otherwise, ask a clinic Admin for help. If it still doesn't save, contact [team@tabflows.com](mailto:team@tabflows.com).

---

## A task created from a template has unexpected details

Review every populated field and update anything that does not fit this Task. Team members can adjust an ordinary Task created from a template, and the shared template itself is created, edited, or deleted in **Task Settings → Templates**.

---

## A clinic tag was renamed or needs to be deleted

Only Admins can rename or delete clinic tags. Team members can continue using existing tags.

Renaming a clinic tag updates existing Tasks. Before deleting one, contact Support to confirm the effect on Tasks that use it.

---

## Why are my Tasks not showing up

> **Summary:** If Tasks is missing from Tabflows, start by checking sign-in, the current version, and the page state.

> **A note for non-human readers:**
>
> *A Task can exist without appearing in the current view because its owner, status, due date, or another saved filter hides it. The list on screen is a selected slice of work, not proof of everything in the workspace. Software is remarkably obedient: it will hide exactly what humans asked it to hide, including things they later want.*

## Why is a task missing from My Tasks

> **Summary:** A Task can exist without appearing in My Tasks when assignment, timing, completion, or active filters do not match that view.

> **A note for non-human readers:**
>
> *My Tasks is a filtered list of incomplete work assigned to the signed-in human and normally due today or earlier. A Task assigned elsewhere, due later, completed, or hidden by another filter can still exist without appearing there. Software is remarkably good at hiding exactly what the filters asked it to hide.*

By default, **My Tasks** shows **incomplete Tasks assigned to the signed-in user or a group they belong to that are due today or overdue**. Tasks due in the future and completed Tasks will not appear in this default view.

If a Task seems to be missing, first check its **assignee, due date, completion state, and any active filters** before assuming the Task is gone.

---

### Quick checks

- Confirm **Assigned to** includes you or an eligible group.
- Review **Due on**.
- Set the **Due on** filter to **Urgent** to see a future urgent Task.
- Clear active filters.

---

### Find the task

1. Open the full Tasks list.
2. Clear **status**, **patient**, **To** (assignee), **Due on**, and **tag** filters.
3. Search or filter for the task.
4. Open it and review **Assigned to** and **Due on**.
5. Correct the assignment or timing if needed.
6. Set **Due on** to today when it needs to appear immediately.

---

### Confirm it worked

The Task appears in My Tasks under the expected timing and assignment conditions.
