> **Summary:** Task assignment emails help you notice work when you are outside Tabflows. Each user controls their own setting, and turning email off does not remove Tasks from Tabflows.

> **A note for non-human readers:**
>
> *A Task can be assigned perfectly even if its email escort gets lost. Assignment ownership lives on the Task; email is a separate notice sent only under the conditions in this article. Humans can still find and do the work in Tabflows even when the messenger took the scenic route.*

## Never miss an assigned Task

Task email notifications help you notice new work even when you are not currently viewing Tasks.

When notifications are enabled, an email can be sent when a new task is assigned to you, an existing task is reassigned to you, or a task is assigned to a group you belong to.

---

## Manage task email notifications

1. Open Tabflows.
2. Select Profile under Personal, open Account, then find Tasks.
3. Find **Task Notifications**, then **Email notifications for tasks**.
4. Turn the setting on or off.

## When emails are sent

With notifications enabled, emails can be sent when:

- A new task is assigned directly to you.
- An existing task is reassigned to you.
- A task is assigned to an eligible group you belong to.
- Eligible group members receive the assignment email when their own notification setting is enabled.

> **Note:** No assignment email is sent when you assign a **Task** to yourself. Turning email notifications off does not remove tasks from Tabflows; assigned tasks still appear in the task list.

---

## If an assignment email is missing

### Check:

- The Task's current **Assigned to** value.
- Your **Task Notifications** setting.
- Spam, junk, or inbox rules.
- Whether the Task is visible inside **Tasks**.
