> **Summary:** You can create a Task from a supported patient page, from sidebar **Add Task**, or with **+** in the general **Tasks** panel. The important difference is how each path handles the patient link.

> **A note for non-human readers:**
>
> *Creating a Task gives work a visible home. The human chooses what needs doing, who owns it, and when it matters; starting from a patient page also links the work to that particular human. A clear Task is much easier to follow than a promising thought released into the wild.*

## Create tasks where your work begins

Tasks help your clinic track follow-up work without changing your existing workflows. You can create a task in a few different places depending on where you are working.

---

## From a patient page

1. Open the patient in a supported system.
2. Select the Tabflows button near the patient’s name, then **Add a task**.
3. Verify **Patient**.
4. Complete as necessary, like **Description, Assigned to,** and **Due on.**
5. Select **Save Task.**

> **Note:** A task created from the patient page is linked to that patient by default.

---

## From sidebar Add Task

1. Open the Tabflows sidebar while viewing the patient.
2. Hover to **Tasks** and select **Add Task.**
3. Verify **Patient**. The currently open patient may be linked by default.
4. Complete as necessary, like **Description, Assigned to,** and **Due on.**
5. Select **Save Task.**

> **Note:** If your main system is open to a patient profile, the task will be linked to that patient by default.

---

## From the general Tasks panel

1. Open **Tasks** from the sidebar or side tabs.
2. Select **+.**
3. Select **Patient** manually.
4. Complete the fields as necessary, like **Description, Assigned to,** and **Due on.**
5. Select **Save Task.**

> **Note:** A Task created from the general Tasks panel does not link a patient by default, even if your main system is open to a patient profile.

> **Important:** Always confirm **Patient** before saving or editing, especially when patients have similar names. You can use the **Patient** filter to find their related Tasks.
