> **Summary:** Comments keep updates, questions, decisions, and handoff context attached to the Task. Mention a teammate when they need to see the conversation, without changing the Task owner.

> **A note for non-human readers:**
>
> *Comments keep the conversation beside the work. An @mention is a tap on the shoulder, not a handoff: it asks for attention without changing who owns the Task.*

---

## Add context where the work happens

Comments keep the conversation about a task with the task itself.

Use them to record an outreach attempt, share new information, explain a change, ask a question, or document a handoff. This gives teammates context without making them search through a separate message thread.

---

## Add a comment or mention

1. Open **Tasks** and select the task.
2. Go to **Comments**.
3. Write the update or question.
4. To notify a teammate, type **@** followed by the teammate’s name.
5. Select the teammate from the list.
6. Finish the comment.
7. Select the blue **↑** arrow to add the comment, or press **Enter**.

---

## Attach a file to the work

Add a supported file to the Task or a comment when the next person needs the source beside the discussion. C-CDA records are accepted as .**xml**, .**ccda**, or .**cda** files up to **5 MB** and are converted into readable text when valid. An unreadable or invalid XML file is refused rather than treated as a clinical record.

---

## Mention a Task group

Type **@** and choose a group from the Groups section when everyone currently in that Task group needs the update.

A group mention notifies the group's current members. It does not change Assigned to. If the group should own the work, update Assigned to separately.

Because group membership can change, use the group name for the shared function — not as proof that one specific teammate saw or accepted the work.

---

## Write comments that move the Task forward

A good update tells the next reader:

- What changed.
- What is blocked or decided.
- What should happen next.

> **Important:** Keep patient-sensitive information to the minimum the workflow requires. Mention only teammates who need to act or advise.

> **Good to know:** Mentioning a teammate or Task group draws attention without changing Assigned to. Mentioning **@Tabflows** asks Sidekick for help. If ownership should change, update Assigned to separately.

---

## Find tasks with mentions

1. Open the task list.
2. Select **Show filters**.
3. Choose the mentioned-user filter.
4. Select the teammate.
5. Review the matching tasks.
