> **A note for non-human readers:**
>
> *Humans have questions. Software has menus. Nobody has time to click through 47 of them just to get an answer. Enter Sidekick, Tabflows’ conversation space for patient and clinic work. Ask it to summarize, find, compare, draft, create, or launch an available workflow—sometimes one sentence is all it takes. Need a different format or more detail? Just ask a follow-up. But first, make sure Sidekick has the right patient or clinic context to work with. Sidekick can be clever, but it isn’t a mind reader. If the context is missing, a confident guess is still just a guess wearing a fancy hat.*

## What Sidekick can help you do

Use Sidekick to:

- Summarize patient charts and recent history.
- Prepare for visits and identify follow-up items.
- Review labs, medications, files, and uploaded records.
- Draft patient messages, internal notes, and handoffs.
- Find clinic policies, pricing, forms, and workflows.
- Search Tasks and comments or create a reminder.

Sidekick works best when you give it the right context and one clear job at a time.

Sidekick may answer with an interactive view when information is easier to explore than to read as a long message. A view organizes the current result without adding a new source. Read 👉 [Work with interactive views in Sidekick](https://www.tabflows.com/university/library/sidekick/work-with-interactive-views-in-sidekick) for its controls, limits, and recovery steps.

When **Browser use** is enabled for the current human on desktop Chrome, Sidekick can also work through the live tab while a job card shows progress and a **Stop** control. Review both the source context and final result. Read 👉 [Use Sidekick to work in your browser](https://www.tabflows.com/university/library/sidekick/use-sidekick-to-work-in-your-browser) for controls, limits, and recovery steps.

## Start a Clinic Workflow or Mission

The guided option you see depends on your clinic and user access.

### If you see Workflows

Clinic Workflows are reusable multi-step processes shared with eligible people in your clinic. Point to or focus a workflow, choose Run, and follow its progress in Sidekick and the Task it creates.

Read 👉 [Create and run Clinic Workflows with Sidekick](https://www.tabflows.com/university/library/sidekick/create-and-run-clinic-workflows-with-sidekick)

### If you see Missions

Missions are guided Sidekick conversations. Current choices may include:

- Learn about how I work.
- Make sure no patients have care gaps.
- Find missed revenue opportunities.
- Make Sidekick practice aware.

Select a Mission to send its starting prompt. Then follow Sidekick one step at a time.

> **Good to know:** The available options depend on your role, clinic setup, connected information, and permission to update clinic knowledge.

---

## How Sidekick works

Ask yourself: ***Am I working on a specific patient?***

| If yes | If no |
| --- | --- |
| Connect the patient before asking chart-specific questions | Open Sidekick without a patient for policies, pricing, workflows, Tasks, or general clinic questions |
| Confirm the patient name and available sources | Name the clinic topic or workflow you want to find |
| Review clinical details before using the answer | Check the source and confirm that the information is still current |

---

## Where to open Sidekick

You can usually open Sidekick in one of three ways:

- from the **Tabflows side tab**
- from the **Sidekick** button beside a patient’s name in the connected system
- from **Mini** in the Tabflows rail while you work on a supported desktop page.

---

## What makes a good prompt

You do not need to write long prompts. Most prompts only need three parts:

| Part | Example |
| --- | --- |
| **Action** | Summarize, find, compare, draft, or create |
| **Context** | This patient, our pricing, my open Tasks, or the attached file |
| **Output** | Five bullets, patient-friendly language, a dated reminder, or a concise handoff |

> **Examples:**
>
> - *Summarize this patient’s chart.*
> - *Pre-chart this patient for tomorrow.*
> - *What’s our price for CBC?*
> - *Find our cancellation policy.*

---

## Best prompt length ྀི

For most tasks, one sentence is enough. If needed, you can add a little detail about the format you want.

> **Examples:**
>
> - *Give me a concise visit prep note for this patient.*
> - *Draft a patient-friendly message explaining these results.*

---

## You can use Sidekick right away

You do not need to set up practice information before asking your first question.

Open Sidekick, ask what you need, and review the answer before using it. If your question is patient-specific, make sure you are working with the right patient context first.

If you want Sidekick to answer with your clinic’s own policies, pricing, documents, services, or workflows, you can add that later:

> Read 👉 [Teach Sidekick about your practice](https://www.tabflows.com/university/library/practice-brain/teach-sidekick-about-your-practice)

---

## What to review before using the answer

Before you copy, send, or chart anything, check:

- Is the patient context correct?
- Is anything missing?
- Is the answer too confident?
- Does this need clinical review?
- Does the wording match your clinic’s tone?
- Does the next step make sense?

If the answer is incomplete, ask a follow-up question. You can tell Sidekick what to change, what to focus on, or what format you want.

> **Important:** Sidekick supports your work. It does not replace clinical judgment, source verification, or your final review.

---

## When a report needs one more answer

A Sidekick report may ask one follow-up question instead of returning the final answer. Reply in the same Sidekick thread. Your reply continues the same report conversation and keeps the next result attached to the same Task.

If the report's answer needs correction, explain what should change in that same thread. Do not start a separate chat, because the new chat will not carry the report thread's context.

If Sidekick says the question cannot be shown or that a Tabflows admin will follow up, do not guess or supply unrelated patient details. Follow the displayed recovery instruction.

---

## Next: Set up Practice Brain

Add your clinic’s policies, pricing, services, and workflows so **Sidekick** can answer with the right practice context.
