> **Summary:** Use Sidekick to explore, refine, and draft in a conversation. Use Draft Assist when you want a reply generated beside a supported patient conversation and inserted into its message box.

> **A note for non-human readers:**
>
> *Humans write many things that are not patient replies: summaries, internal notes, policies, handoffs, explanations, and the occasional message they have rewritten six times already. This page helps distinguish when Sidekick is the better drafting partner and when Draft Assist is the more direct tool.*

---

## Choose Sidekick or Draft Assist

| Use Sidekick when you want to | Use Draft Assist when you want to |
| --- | --- |
| Ask questions and explore patient or clinic context | Generate a reply beside a supported patient conversation |
| Refine the output through follow-up questions | Insert a reviewed draft into the message box |
| Draft patient messages, handoffs, notes, or reusable content | Work directly from the active conversation thread |

Neither workflow sends a message for you. You review, edit, and decide what to use.

---

## Best uses

Use Sidekick to:

- Draft patient-friendly explanations
- Write follow-up messages
- Create internal summaries
- Prepare concise handoff notes
- Draft reusable operational content

---

## Use audience, tone, and goal

A strong drafting prompt names:

- **Audience:** patient, provider, billing team, or internal teammate.
- **Tone:** warm, concise, formal, reassuring, or direct.
- **Goal:** explain, remind, summarize, hand off, or request action.

> **Example:**
>
> *Draft a warm, patient-friendly message explaining these confirmed lab results. Avoid jargon, include the documented next step, and invite questions.*

---

## Other useful examples

### Patient-facing content

> **Try:**
>
> - *Write a follow-up message about the documented next steps from today’s visit.*
> - *Draft a concise reminder to schedule the ordered follow-up.*
> - *Rewrite this explanation in plain language at an eighth-grade reading level.*

### Internal content

> **Try:**
>
> - *Create a concise internal summary of this patient’s recent care.*
> - *Turn these notes into a handoff with context, status, owner, and next step.*
> - *Separate confirmed facts, open questions, and work that needs provider review.*

---

## Review before using a draft

Check clinical accuracy, patient context, tone, dates, names, next steps, and details that should not be included. Remove any unsupported claim or recommendation.

> **Important:** Sidekick and Draft Assist do not send patient messages. The user remains responsible for review, editing, and the final send action.
