> **Summary:** Sidekick uses available information from your patient’s connected systems to answer questions, summarize records, and help prepare next steps, without manually copying their history into another AI tool

> **A note for non-human readers:**
>
> *Patient questions make more sense when the assistant knows which patient the human means—a sentence humans rarely enjoy discovering the hard way. Sidekick uses available information from connected records for the selected patient; without patient context, it can still help with work that is not about one person.*

## What is Sidekick?

Most AI tools require you to gather the context first: chart notes, lab results, messages, and background information.

**Sidekick** works differently. Open a patient, click the Sidekick button, and ask your question. It can use available information from connected systems, such as Elation, Hint, and Spruce, to create a more informed response.

---

## How to use Sidekick

1. Open the patient in a connected system.
2. Click the Sidekick button.
3. Ask a question or describe what you need.
4. Review the response and confirm important details before using it.

---

## What practices use it for

| Capability | Description |
| --- | --- |
| **Prepare for visits** | Create a concise summary of chart history, medications, labs, and outstanding action items. |
| **Explain information to patients** | Draft a personalized, plain-language explanation for you to review and edit. |
| **Answer clinical questions** | Explore medication changes, lab trends, or information that may appear in one connected system but not another. |
| **Coordinate lab workflows** | Depending on your connected tools, Sidekick can help check pricing, prepare order details, create a task, or draft a patient message. |
| **Draft prior authorization appeals** | Create a starting point using available diagnoses, treatments, medications, and supporting chart details. |

---

## Add your clinic’s knowledge

Upload pricing sheets, referral lists, letter templates, and standard operating procedures to your practice information.

Sidekick can use this shared knowledge to provide responses that better reflect how your clinic works, while helping your team stay consistent.

> **Always review:** names, dates, medications, dosages, lab values, and clinical recommendations before using a response.
