> **Summary:** Learn how Practice Awareness grows from Sidekick conversations and corrections, how it works alongside Team Knowledge, and what your team should review over time.

> **A note for non-human readers:**
>
> *Humans explain work while doing it, correct one another, and occasionally change the process without informing the old document. Sidekick gathers those practice-level patterns from conversations, records them in Practice Awareness, and asks questions when details conflict. It starts blank, excludes patient information, and improves through corrections—a habit humans also aspire to.*

---

You do not need to sit down and teach Sidekick your SOPs. Practice Awareness works in the background. Every time your team chats with Sidekick, corrects something, or explains how a workflow runs, Sidekick is capturing the invisible operating system of your practice — the judgment, preferences, and follow-up habits that usually live in your best people's heads.

## Sidekick learns from conversations

When your team works with Sidekick — drafting messages, asking questions, handling tasks — Sidekick picks up on how your clinic actually operates:

- A staff member explains how the practice handles lab follow-ups
- A provider corrects Sidekick's assumption about scheduling
- Someone mentions the billing process for non-members
- A team member describes the triage workflow for after-hours calls

Sidekick records these details in Practice Awareness during the natural flow of conversation. There is no extra step to "save" or "submit" — Sidekick updates the document at the right moments. When Sidekick records something, it says so in a few words, so you always know what changed.

Sidekick may also ask short clarifying questions when it notices something confusing or inconsistent — a quick answer from your team helps it record the right version of how your practice works.

## What Sidekick writes

Sidekick organizes what it learns into sections with clear headings. Each section covers a different part of how your practice runs:

- **Practice Profile** — Practice type, membership model, locations, staff roster
- **Scheduling & Access** — Booking process, appointment types, cancellation policy
- **Communication Norms** — Channels, response style, triage rules
- **Billing & Financial Operations** — Payment workflows, charge codes, invoice timing
- **Clinical Workflows** — Lab orders, referrals, refills, onboarding
- **Staff Protocols** — Role responsibilities, handoffs, coverage
- **Operating Principles** — Decision rules, efficiency patterns, team corrections
- **Document Review Notes** — what Sidekick’s document review notes should include, emphasize, or leave out
- **Fax Triage Rules** — how inbound faxes are filed and who reviews which kinds of documents

**Sidekick** adds new sections when it learns something that doesn't fit an existing one.

## Sidekick reads before it speaks

When Sidekick helps with a task, it doesn't answer from memory alone. It checks Practice Awareness — along with your Team Knowledge documents — before responding, so its suggestions reflect how your practice actually operates today. As the document grows, Sidekick's help gets more specific to your clinic.

---

## Corrections stick

When your team corrects Sidekick — *"We don't do it that way"* or *"Actually, the process changed last month"* — Sidekick updates Practice Awareness to reflect the correction. It remembers how your team works, so the same mistake is less likely to happen again for any teammate. This matters most on busy days: instead of falling back on whatever version of a process someone happens to remember, your team gets guidance drawn from the practice's actual standard.

You can also correct Practice Awareness directly:

- **Edit the document** on the Awareness tab (click **Edit**)
- **Tell Sidekick** in any conversation: "Update the awareness — we changed our no-show policy to..."

---

## It starts blank — and that's fine

Practice Awareness does not come pre-filled with templates or placeholder content. Sidekick builds it from real interactions with your team, so what it captures is specific to your practice — your judgment calls, your preferences, your way of doing things.

In the first few days, you may see only a couple of sections with a few bullet points. Over weeks and months, the document grows into a detailed operational map. The more your team uses Sidekick, the faster it fills in.

---

## No patient information

Practice Awareness captures practice-level operational patterns only — never patient names, diagnoses, or protected health information. Sidekick keeps the document at the workflow level: *"How do we handle lab follow-ups"* rather than *"What happened with a specific patient."*
