# How do I unlink the wrong patient profile > Remove a clinic-wide shortcut that points to the wrong patient profile, then verify and connect the correct patient profile. Unlinking removes that mistaken connection. The clinic then searches for and confirms the intended person before linking again, so future work returns to the correct patient.*If the wrong patient was linked or a patient’s chart changed, you can unlink the connection and re-link to the correct profile. ## Quick checks before you unlink - Confirm the current link is incorrect. - Verify which system profile should be disconnected. - Stop using the linked shortcut until it is corrected. > **Important:** Unlinking removes the saved clinic-wide shortcut. It does not delete a patient or change either underlying patient record. --- ## Unlink the profile 1. Open the patient in your primary system 2. Hover over the linked system icon in Tabflows. 3. Select the **link (chain)** icon 4. Tabflows removes the link right away and shows **Profile link removed** 5. Check that the system button is no longer dark blue. 6.
